Weber-Morgan Health Department Seeks Public Input on Community Safety and Resilience

June 11, 2025

Ogden, UT — The Weber-Morgan Health Department’s Community Health Division is inviting adults who live and/or work in Weber and Morgan counties to participate in a confidential survey to help identify local risk and protective factors related to targeted violence and terrorism. This initiative, led by the department’s Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) team, seeks to understand public perceptions and awareness surrounding issues of violence, extremism, and community safety. The results will directly influence a public awareness campaign launching this fall, ensuring outreach and educational efforts are tailored to the specific needs of our communities.

“By collecting this information, we can better equip our residents with the knowledge and resources to promote safety, resilience, and connectedness,” Kelly McEllwain, community health educator who oversees the program.

The survey is open to all adults who live and/or work in Weber and Morgan counties and only takes a few minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous.

The information gathered will be used to:

  • Assess community understanding of violence-related risks;
  • Identify existing protective factors like community connection and mental health resources;
  • Shape future prevention messaging and outreach initiatives.

This effort reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to building healthier, safer communities by increasing awareness, strengthening coping skills, and enhancing local resilience.
